Prayer & Peace

"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful (John 14:27 NASB)."

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:4-7 NIV)."

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Some pointers on how to use prayer to get more peace:

  • Pray about everything, problems big and small. Decisions. And, especially, about how to deal with a spiritual attack. Prayer requests should be specific.
  • Pray—and stay in prayer or keep coming back to prayer—whenever you are unable to keep your mind off of negatives.
  • Prayers should always include thanksgiving.
  • God is interested in a relationship with you. So, your prayers should be about engaging God, not simply repeating prayers without thinking.
  • Pray in faith—with confidence. Regardless of circumstances. Otherwise, your prayers will be hindered.
