"The entrance of thy words giveth light (Psalm 119:130)."

Be Joyful

"Always be joyful. Always keep on praying. No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus ( 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 TLB)."

"Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10 NASB)."

"The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes (Psalms 19:8 NIV)."

"I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord (Psalm 27:6 NASB)."

"Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him (Psalm 33:1 NIV)."

"Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior (Habakkuk 3:17-18 NIV)."

Christians are commanded to be joyful. And, in the context of spiritual warfare, the joy of the Lord is your strength. Christians should make an effort, every day, as much as possible, to be joyful. And to be joyful regardless of circumstances.

Do whatever works for you. Praising God, giving thanks and singing are items mentioned in the Psalms. You can also sing while listening to Christian music. One pastor said he likes to sing Christian songs, substituting his own words, giving praise to God.

Making an effort to be joyful will improve your ability to successfully deal with mental health challenges. Two examples follow.

If you have anxiety, you won't be able to get rid of it without a joyful heart.

If you have a substance abuse history, the more joyful you are, the less likely you are to relapse.

"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23 KJV)"

Rejoice always. Be joyful. It's a command from God. And it's God's will for Christians to be joyful.
